Yes, S+ is compiled in ANSI. I've posted many times about this and it's something I've tried to correct, but it requires converting a lot of the S+ code and my attempts had previously failed.
Coding for Unicode is challenging for those who are not very experienced in the nuances (which I am not). Additionally, there are dependencies such as the Boost property tree, Lua, etc. which all have to be worked with to support Unicode.
I know it's possible, but it's simply a daunting task that I've spent much time on, only to have mixed results. The closest I came a while back loaded up and pretty much worked, but most string sequences would only have the first letter and I couldn't figure out how to get it working.
I'm going to spend some time again trying to get Unicode support working as it's really the only shortcoming of S+ that drives me crazy...but is such a big undertaking. |

Thank you Rob for your answer.
I have updated my first post with a new link: a new version of the language.xml file in ANSI, and it works fine now.
EDIT (new file uploaded on Febuary 3rd 2014): https://www.dropbox.com/s/ilq0xbq1aom3sxx/Language_French_ANSI.zip
I will continue to update this file from time to time if I think some words can be translated better.
See you. |

Oh, interesting. So saving in ANSI works? That's nice to know. Since I don't speak or use another language, I'm very much in the dark about the nuances.
Thanks!
I'll update the languages section with your file tomorrow...and let a new member who offered to make a German translation to give it a try, saving the file in ANSI. |

Yes, it works fine with ANSI so maybe volonteers just have to save their language.xml this way and there won't be any problem (and no need to worry about UTF-8 anymore).
There is still a problem with some long words in other languages. French is quite a verbose language (unlike English, I guess), and some buttons are too small to display the french strings.
But it's almost fine now :) Thank you so much, Rob for your wonderful software ! |

Yes, I had made the buttons and labels larger for Polish, but I guess I need to make them even bigger :-) |
